I have just moved into a new house in a suburb of Cleveland and wanted to look into an internet and cable provider. The options are different in the Midwest than they are up North, but I recognize AT&T even though I haven't been their customer before. Therefore, after browsing what they offer online, I thought I would call to learn more about their U-verse program. They seemed to have some great packages, but I wanted to see what they would offer me on the phone because I know sometimes new customers get better offers. 

In my experience, cable companies do not have great customer service, but I was able to speak with someone in under five minutes, which was amazing. In fact, I think I was off the phone call in under ten minutes, which was even more impressive. When you consider how many different things people could be calling about, from technical support to phone support to new cellular service or tablet TV, they must have a pretty efficient customer service system. 

When I called, it immediately said, "Welcome to AT&T. If you are calling regarding your AT&T Wireless and cellular service, press 1. If you are calling about (my number) press 1. If not press 2." I wasn't calling about their phone service, so I skipped that, and then I wasn't calling about my number because I don't have a number registered with them, so I pressed 2. However, it asked me to verify the number again, and I kept pressing 2. Finally, it seemed to sense this wasn't working, and asked, "What's the issue you are calling about?" This was frustrating because the questions weren't tailored to someone who wasn't a customer already. 

However, once I responded, "Learn about U-verse," things seemed to get better. It then asked me, "What help do you need with your U-verse?" I replied that I was a new customer, which seemed to finally get the system in the right direction. It then asked if I was calling to add service to an existing account, to which I said no. After asking for my ZIP Code and whether it was a business or personal account, I finally got transferred to Julie. While dealing with the system was a little annoying, Julie was very pleasant and ran me through a list of some great deals, so the phone call was still worth my time.
