This number is meant to further reduce wait times, as it's only meant to serve Medford, Jackson County and the surrounding parts of southern Oregon. The high population centers in northern Oregon, such as Portland and Salem, have a separate phone number, which helps move things along quickly for intended customers.

When you dial, you'll be connected directly to the Oregon DMV automated system and asked what you're calling about. It's important to speak clearly when you respond, as you can get sent to the wrong menu if the system misinterprets your statement. When I called, I initially asked for help with a driver's license, and I was sent to the menu for getting a driving record.

On my second attempt, I was able to get to the driver's license menu. After telling me I'd need to go in person with required documents, the system asked me if I wanted it to send a text message with the necessary information. I said I did, and the system asked if I wanted the text sent to the number I was calling from.

I confirmed that I did, and the system automatically sent over a link to the Oregon DMV's website, providing me with every piece of information I might need to get a driver's license in Oregon. I then called back to check how long the wait time was to reach a representative, and I was told a representative could assist me in approximately 14 minutes.

Overall, I thought this system was easy to use and provided a lot of helpful information.
