Calling the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division for assistance from this number is a streamlined, positive experience. First, the Arizona MVD offers multiple numbers to break up call volume, and this number is meant to only be used by residents of Tucson and Pima County. That helps cut down on wait time substantially, making for a much better customer experience.

Second, the Arizona MVD has a system that only escalates calls when necessary. All calls start out as Level One calls, which is the most basic level of service provided. During a Level One call, there's no need for the customer to provide any personal identification or details; this level is for general questions that can apply to anyone. Should a customer require more personalized or advanced help, their call is escalated to a Level Two call.

For a Level Two call, the customer must provide their name and any other identifying details needed to get things resolved. For my call, I had a brief wait of about five minutes before a woman's voice answered and asked how she could assist me. I told her I'd just purchased a vehicle from a private seller and would need to title and register it in Arizona. She asked me if I had the vehicle's existing title, and I told her that I did, as it was a private sale. 

She then asked if the vehicle had an emissions test, and I told her it required one. She said I'd need to bring the vehicle to a testing location and get an emissions test, and I'd then have to bring that and the title to my local registration center in Pima County. I asked if there was anything else needed, and she said there wasn't.

I then asked about how much I could expect to pay to register my vehicle, and she asked what year, make and model my vehicle was. I told her it's a 2015 Toyota Avalon, and she said she would check the vehicle specifications and let me know after a brief hold. After a couple minutes, she told me I could expect to pay $191 to register for one year and $290 if I registered for two years. I thanked her for her assistance, and she quickly thanked me for calling and hung up immediately.

Overall, I thought this was a very good experience. The attention to detail was excellent, as evidenced by the representative's desire to get the call right down to a detailed price for registering a specific vehicle. I expected her to give a generic answer about how it varies or she didn't know, but she actually took the time to look up information and make sure it was right.

Along with the streamlined service that cut down on wait times, this was a first-rate example of customer service. If I needed help from the Pima County phone number for the Arizona MVD, I'd be very comfortable calling again.
