Calling Siemens can be a frustrating experience, or it can be an easy experience. I had a hard time getting through the phone directory the first two times I called. However, I tried a third time, and it went drastically different than the other two times. I had a technical question to ask a customer representative, and once I finally got to someone, it was a great experience. The representative spoke clearly in English, but the hard part was getting to a representative for reasons that are unbeknownst to me.
The first time I called the member, a recorded message thanked me for calling the Siemens Directory Service. It asked me to press 1 if I was an active or former employee and that all others should press 2. This was a bit confusing to me since the options seemed very limiting, but I was not an employee, so I chose option 2. I was expecting another directory tree, but instead, the recorded message told me that an error had occurred and hung up on me. I was confused, so I called back a second time and tried the same series of steps only to get hung up again.
After being hung up on a second time, I thought I would try to call back and choose 1. While I am not an employee, I figured if I could get to a live agent, I could explain to them what happened so that they could direct me to the right person. This time, I was asked to press 1 to talk to HR or press 2 for all other callers. I pressed 2, and the same error message occurred. I was told to please try again later before the line disconnected.
At this point, I was a bit confused and unsure of how I was going to get to any live representative if all of the options ended the same way. I did a Google search that told me this phone number was the right Siemens customer service number.
Simply because I wasn't sure what to do, I tried one last time to call. This time, it picked up immediately and told me, "Thank you for calling Siemens Directory Service," and that all agents are handling other calls. It asked me to remain on the line, and upbeat hold music started to play. I wasn't sure what changed in the 5 minutes between calls, but this was a welcome change. In less than 30 seconds, a representative picked up the line and helped me work through my problem.
In the end, there was virtually no wait time, and I was able to get my question resolved. I am not sure what changed, but if you manage to get the second experience, the phone call is worth it.
